Budget Performance: Changing Your Air Filter

If you came here thinking that I was talking about upgrading to a cold air, or Ram air intake, sorry... That's not the topic for today. Today's topic is all about super budget performance. It's about renewing your air filter.

See, there is a whole Pro's and Con's list for using the factory air box over an after market intake, and visa versa. Thing is though, it doesn't matter what intake you choose to use, if you don't have a clean filter on it, it's not going to give you the maximum performance you want, or that it could provide. So, yeah, if you're chasing ponies, our you just want your fun to drive Sport Compact, to be, well... fun to drive, PUT A CLEAN AIR FILTER IN IT.

To help you with this task, here's a short and simple episode about how to change your air filter.

If you need a good price on an air filter for your car, you may find what you're looking for here.

How And Why: Changing Your Motor Ground

A lot of people work on their cars, almost daily, and never really think about checking their motor ground. However, there are a number of good reasons to do check it. One very important reason, is that with time and wear, your motor ground can become loose, frayed, or even disconnect all together. All of which will bring the most built of motors to it's knees.

So, here's the deal basically. A ground strap/cable for your Sport Compact is more than like 1 of 2 different kinds of strap/cable. It's either a wire strand cable (having a bunch of fine wires wound together, making a cable), or it's an actual strap (this is a bunch of braided wires that make a flat, flexible, strip of wiring). Both are commonly used on cars, and both can wear with time. As these wire, they weaken, and the strands will eventually begin to break. Once enough wires have broken, your problems begin.

If you need a ground strap for you engine, you can find them via this link. (amazon afiliate link)

So, Thanks for Stopping by! I really hope you enjoyed the show, and series.

How To Check And Replace A PCV Valve

As with any piece of old equipment, regular maintenance is important. Simple mechanical pieces, such as valves, can rob you of much wanted power that you have worked hard to earn. So, as your Sport Compact gets older, don't give up on it. Just learn how, and what, you need to replace.

Today, we're going to take a look at the PCV Valve, and review a couple of test that you can do on the valve to see if it's working. Then we'll look at what it will take to actually replace it.

Our test subject for today is my 1990 Honda CRX HF with a JDM spec D16A6 motor swap. On most 80's -mid 90's Honda Civic's the PCV Valve is pretty similarly located. Even if you have a different Sport Compact Car, this test, and replacement method should be fairly applicable.

If you're looking for a PCV Valve, you may find what you need here. (Amazon Afiliate Link)

Drift Works SWEET Toyota AE86 Corrola Build

In our dreams, we can build a car perfectly, and it only takes a few moments. In real life however, it takes a lot longer that a few moments. Even if money is no problem (and that's rarely the case), we have to face the reality that good quality restoration, fabrication, and modification takes time. A lot of time.

Well, today you get to see a SWEET drift car built in a few moments. Thanks to Drift Works and their efforts to document this cool build, you get to see a street monster come alive in about 11 minutes. So, have fun! And dream on!

If you can afford to build a real drift car yet, then you might want to check out a few of these in the mean time. (Amazon Affiliate link)

Sport Compact Fun: Honda CRX Suspension Techniques Rear Sway Bar

This just came in. It's for my 1990 Honda CRX HF with a JDM D16A6 swapped into it. Here in the near future, I'll be installing this on the car, and reviewing how it changes the handling of CRX. We will be evaluating the suspension step by step, showing how each added/change suspension component effects how a car handles. This is just the first step.

If you would like a Suspension Techniques Rear Sway bar for your car, you can find them here (Amazon Affiliate Link).

Sport Compact Fun: 5 Things To Think About Before Buying Your Next Sport Compact

When looking for a Sport Compact Car it's easy to get caught up in the hype/potential of a car. Sport Compact Fun: What I Paid For The CRX And Why

When it comes to Sport Compact Cars, there are a ton of options out on the market. One big question is how much is a good price for (insert car type here)? Well, the fact of the matter is, it's not as cut and dry as it used to be. With so many people doing custom engine swaps, performance upgrades, and style mods, it's hard to say. Then, add on the fact that the whole DIY thing so big, it gets even more complicated.

Because of this, I go over a few of the reason that encouraged me to buy this particular CRX, and why I paid what I did for it. Never fear though, I do tell the purchased price as well. Even still, I did forget to mention a few reasons for why I chose this sport compact in this video. Don't fret though, I'll be going over these other reasons in a video here in the near future.

So, once again, I want to thank you guys for stopping by and checking out Sport Compact Fun.
